How regular dental visits protect you from pneumonia...

Studies suggest that regular dental visits protect against pneumonia by reducing the levels of harmful bacteria in the mouth.

Based on health records of more than 26,000 people in America, suggest that people who never go for dental checkups have a far greater risk of getting bacterial pneumonia than those who keep up with biannual visits.

There is no way to completely eliminate bacteria from the mouth, but good oral hygiene practices limit the quantities of harmful bacteria present.

The oral health of an individual is significantly linked to overall health. Many studies have shown that gum disease can raise inflammation levels throughout the body and has also been known to contribute to infective endocarditis – a fatal heart valve infection.

Symptoms in the mouth such as bleeding, sensitive teeth and even bad breath can indicate problems elsewhere in the body such as acid reflux disease, diabetes and hormonal changes.

It is important to agree that Oral Health is integral link to our overall health.
