It Starts With a Smile.

Missing teeth? What are the options?

Missing teeth have a substantial impact on dental health and appearance. When teeth are lost there can be a change in brushing, this places a direct impact on gum disease and creates movement of teeth.

Missing front teeth can be replaced for aesthetic reasons and missing molar teeth should always be replaced for functional purposes such as chewing and symmetry.

What are my options?

1.       Leave it alone

It may not always be necessary to replace a missing tooth, the decisions depends on a variety of factors such as surrounding tissues, health and function of teeth.

2.       Dentures

Dentures are removable appliances which can replace from one tooth to a whole set.  They can be constructed from a variety of materials such as cobalt chrome and acrylic. The appearance of a denture mimics the natural teeth.

3.       Dental Bridge

A conventional fixed bridge requires preparation and involvement of the neighbouring teeth to that which is missing. It takes multiple visits to complete, where a mould is sent to a laboratory and a bridge is constructed to fit you individually.

4.       Orthodontics

Orthodontic treatment can be used in cases to close gaps caused by the loss of teeth. Simple space loss cases can be treated by Invisalign but complex treatment may require fixed braces.

5.       Implants

Dental implants are an ideal way to replace missing teeth; implants bond with bone and provide long lasting results. Dental implants look, feel and function like natural teeth.

It is important to note that each option can be discussed in further detail with our dental professionals at Concord Dental Practice; some options may not be suitable in specific cases.
