Our dentists here at Concord Dental Practice understand that you may be feeling nervous or uncomfortable during your dental treatment. They are very gentle, and take the time to discuss with you what treatment is required, before starting. There is no rush. You are in control of your own treatment.
If this is not enough, we have two methods of sedation available at Concord Dental Practice, which will further appease your fears and anxiety.
Penthrox (methoxyflurane) is a clear liquid with a characteristic fruity odour, which is breathed through an inhaler. The effects of penthrox are almost immediate and its use has a soothing result, which reduces pain effectively.
Alternatively, we also have nitrous oxide “happy gas” on site. Your dentist will administer the correct amount of this gas through a small mask, which is inhaled continuously throughout the dental procedure. Nitrous oxide makes you feel sleepy and relaxed, however, you will still be aware of what is happening around you. You may not be able to remember the procedure. Recovery after administration of the nitrous oxide is quick.
