Why see a dental hygienist?

Hi there! My name’s Daniel and I am the Oral Heath Therapist at Concord Dental Practice. Being an oral heath therapist means that I have obtained a dual qualification to perform both dental hygiene and dental therapy (seeing and treating children under the age of 18 years).

In today’s news feed, I will focus on the dental hygiene aspect of my scope of practice and explain exactly what benefits I can provide for you.

As a hygienist, immaculate oral hygiene and pink healthy gums is the target for all of my patients and is the main focus area of my treatment. I love seeing healthy gums and clean, plaque free teeth and it is something I wish for all of my patients to have. I perform a scale and clean of your teeth, polish them and provide fluoride treatment to strengthen the tooth mineral.

Now, some of you might ask, why do I need to see you when my dentist can do my scale and cleans? The answer is simple. Given that the focus of my practice is purely on your gum health, it means your scale and cleans are performed thoroughly and with a clinician who has a lot more day to day experience with gum health. On average, 45-60 minutes will usually be appointed for your gum treatment.

I always set aside time to explain and demonstrate oral hygiene techniques such as brushing and flossing to ensure that you are cleaning your teeth properly.

Your dental hygiene is a vital part of maintaining the integrity of your gums and bone. Along with this, your teeth are also a vital part of your mouth so our dentists Dr. Jonathan Tsun and Dr. Kim Trinh are here to perform a thorough examination of them also.

We all work together to ensure your teeth last you a life-time!

Give us a call on 9743 4001 and book an appointment to initially see one of our friendly dentists at Concord Dental Practice.
